Commercial-grade motorised curtains and blinds, technically coordinated from build stage and seamlessly integrated into a modern office environment.
Problem
The installation was challenged by an active construction environment, unfinished ceiling pockets, missing fixings, and structural steelwork, making standard motorised blind and curtain installation unviable.
Solution
A tailored technical approach was delivered using reinforced supports, coordinated electrical planning, and a fully integrated Somfy® motorised system, resulting in a clean, reliable, and fully commissioned installation.

Initial Site Conditions & Technical Challenges
The project presented several complexities typical of active commercial construction sites. During our first site inspection, we identified critical missing elements required for installation, including:
Unfinished ceiling pockets and drylining
Absence of timber supports behind plasterboard for secure fixings
Incomplete window reveals and detailing
Power spurs not yet installed
Furthermore, the presence of steel structural beams made conventional fixing methods unviable. As a result, we recommended introducing 18–24mm plywood pattresses within the ceiling pockets to support both the curtain track brackets and roller blind systems.
We also advised on correct spur positioning — ensuring 300mm cable tails were left accessible for Somfy® RTS motors, with future servicing and antenna clearance in mind.
System Configuration
To maintain symmetry and functional access across the elevation, our proposed track and blind layout was confirmed as follows:
Left Window
Single motorised curtain stacking to the right (towards the column)
Centre Window
Pair of curtains, centre split (aligned with columns)
Right Window
Single curtain stacking to the left
Roller blinds were ceiling-recessed and configured to run in line with fixed structural details. Blind headboxes were installed flush into pockets with motors concealed and power supply fully tested post-install.
Floor clearance was calibrated to 10–12mm from finished level, ensuring clean curtain fall without dragging or visual tension.
Installation Process
Once drylining and electrical works were completed by the principal contractor, our
CSCS-qualified installation team attended site to carry out full commissioning:
Curtain tracks were securely fixed into the prepared plywood within ceiling recesses
Roller blinds were aligned, pre-programmed, and tested in line with Somfy® specifications
All spurs were connected and concealed per agreed cable routing drawings
Final adjustments were made on-site for curtain drop, wave formation and limit setting
System control was demonstrated to the client and left ready for operation via remote handset.
Project Outcome
This installation was delivered to the highest commercial standard, with all blinds and curtain systems installed, programmed, and signed off with 100% completion. The client was highly satisfied with the outcome — noting both the clean aesthetic finish and practical motorisation controls.
