All-Glass Structures

All-Glass Structures

Glass box extensions and fully glazed architectural spaces create stunning, light filled interiors. However, because these structures often lack traditional frames or mounting points, installing blinds can be more complex than with standard windows.

In many all glass structures, the absence of surrounding frames means there is no obvious place to fix blinds or shading systems. For this reason, the most effective approach is often to integrate shading solutions during the design stage of the project.

At Luxe Blinds & Interiors, we recommend involving our team early in the architectural planning process so that discreet fixing points or supporting structures can be incorporated into the design. This allows blinds to be installed seamlessly without compromising the clean, minimal appearance of the glass structure.

Where there is structural support at the sides or ends of the glazing, tensioned cable systems can be used to support bespoke blinds across the space. These systems blend neatly with glass rafters and structural elements, and the blind mechanisms can often be hidden within recesses to maintain a refined, uncluttered look.

In situations where no internal fixing points are available, an alternative solution may be to install external shading systems, such as over glass awnings mounted to a nearby wall or structure above the roof. These systems help reduce heat and glare before sunlight passes through the glass.

Each project involving glass structures is unique, which is why we take a consultative approach, carefully assessing the architecture to design the most suitable shading solution.
